Pumpkin Patch

I know I'm supposed to be on bed rest, but to make myself feel better I decided to go with Dave and DJ to the pumpkin patch. I basically sat there, but at least I was not at home being a lump on the sofa. Here are a few pictures.

Disappointment

Today I went in to get an amnioscentesis done to check Yvie's lung maturity. I was supposed to have c-section scheduled 2 days later. I get a phone call from the Dr's office letting me know her lungs are not mature yet. At that moment I felt like all my plans came crashing around me. Such a disappointment. I don't really know why I was so down when I didn't want to have her unhealthy and stuck in he nicu in the first place. Rationally, I knew that this was going to be ok, but the hormonal person that took over my body didn't look at it the same way I did. needless to say rational me and hormonal me are battling out. I am a mess. I know this is the best course and I might miss Halloween because of it!!!

State Fair

We recently had the state fair here and of course DJ went with Daddy while I was on bed rest. I really hate to miss these moments. It makes me feel so bad that I wasn't there to experience this with him. But at least he was able to go with Dave. Here are a few pictures.

We are now going on week 3 of bed rest and I feel like I am going to lose my mind from all the TV I have been watching. I am not a couch potato, but this is my life for the remainder of this pregnancy. I thought I would never say it, I do miss working just a little bit because I am someplace other than trapped on the sofa or the bed. There will probably be a permanent impression of my butt on the sofa! I know later down the line I will regret thinking that and wish for the days of bed rest and TV! The highlight of my weeks so far is my weekly visit to see the Doctor. How do you like that!

I do have to say that I am fortunate and grateful that my parents have come down to help me. I like to call them the warden since they won't let me do not one single thing. They take me to my appointments, cook, clean, grocery shop, and rearrange everything to make things easier for them. But I should not complain since they are sacrificing their time as well and are stuck just like me most of the time.
My parents have been here for 2 weeks now and DJ is just barely starting to warm up to them. He has become quite shy in the last few months and refuses to let them hold him or give him kisses. Just high fives and knuckles. Once in awhile he will tell them something, but he usually sticks to me or Dave like glue. I hope life returns to normal soon or a semblance of normalcy since we will have a new family member soon...I hope the dogs are OK with that!

As for DJ and Dave, they are handling things pretty well. Dave has pretty much taken over the care of DJ. He gets him up in the morning, takes him to daycare, picks him up, plays with him, bathes him, and then puts him down. My job is to clothe him in the morning and feed him. Daddy is now #1 for DJ. My spot has been taken. I guess it will be a good thing since I will have the primary care of Yvie when she is born.

BED REST

So far I am 30 weeks pregnant and have been forced into bed rest. Not too thrilled about this, but I have to do what is best for me and little Yvie (Yvonne) so that I can stay healthy and she can grow into an amazing little girl! Somehow you would think the thought of lounging around all day would seem to be fantastic and luxurious, but in my reality it is not. I am starting to get that caged in feeling...restless and a bit stressed. And would you believe this is only my third day! I guess God in his infinite wisdom is trying to tell me something. Not sure what it is, but I am leaving this in his hands to pull us though this.

I have noticed since being put on this forced bed re
st that I am alot more hungry. Not sure because I was always busy at work and didn't notice it as much and now that I'm twiddling my thumbs and catching up on talk shows and have nothing better to do I notice it more?

As to how life is with DJ, he knows there is a baby in my belly and that her name is baby Pee Pee (his version of Yvie). I'm sure she'll love that nickname. Hope it doesn't stick!

This is also DJs 2nd attempt at potty training. Now that he can communicate better we are hoping he will get the hang of it. I haven't had as much laundry as last time!
Lately DJ has been fascinated by pictures of himself and wants to see them constantly especially the ones we have on our phones! Wants to see 'DJ' at
least twice a day. It is cute how excited he gets especially when he sees himself as a baby!

As I promised in my last post, I am putting a picture of myself. I don't think its that flattering because I think I look huge. But that's ok I'm supposed to look like this!

Summer

I really have no excuse for not posting way before this. It's always in the back of my mind that I need to blog about all the little things that have happened. Summer is here and it has been a scorcher! I am so glad we updated our swamp cooler which makes the heat more tolerable. Since last I posted, Easter came and DJ's sister came to visit and had Easter with us. Here they are swinging in our backyard.
DJ also had his 2nd birthday. This was very hard for me. I know he is only 2, but in my eyes he is growing up too fast. Dave doesn't seem to understand and sometimes gives me a hard time especially when I shed a tear for his first haircut. I am a hormonal mess!
Another thing on the horizon is that I am pregnant again with a girl this time. Dave was pretty sure it was going to be a boy and started calling our daughter his son and talking about his 'men'. What a shocker it was to him when I had an ultrasound and the technician told him it was a girl. He was not convinced and asked her to check it again. Which she did and told him that an absence of a penis meant a girl. He was a little shocked and is now resigned to the fact that he has another daughter on the horizon. Now he tells me that I can't go overboard with the pink and that DJs toys are just as good for her as they were for him! So, I go and buy some clothes, not pink and Dave goes and gets her all kinds of cute pink stuff!Oh well...I hope she is a tomboy like her mamma cause I don't know how to deal with a girly girl. I will post pictures later on with my pregnant belly!

Life has just been so busy lately that I regret that I haven't posted any new pictures yet. Needless to say that spring is here, but the weather here doesn't want to cooperate. One day it will be sunny and warm and then the next day will turn on you with some snow showers! But I have to say I am enjoying my little guy immensely!

We have been keeping with the Lent ritual of going to church every Sunday and DJ has been doing better and better with each Sunday. We are still in the Cry Room but now he seems to be one of the better behaved kids there and he is not even 2! Snacks and a Sippy cup full of milk help out too. I can't take all the credit.

Well, I have one picture and a video to post. The picture is of DJ on the back of Dave's bike on his new seat. The video is of DJ doing a header going down a slide @ this place called ABQ jump. They have all kinds of jumpers there.
