It's been a long time since I've written...

We have been in Colorado for almost 3 years now and the kids have adjusted pretty well to the change. In the past year a lot has happened.  Last January (2018) we went to California for my mom and dad's 80th birthday.  What a drastic change in weather! We left Colorado with the temps being in the 30's and landed in California with the temps being in the 90's at the end of January! This was also the kids first time on an airplane and we were in anxiety city with DJ. He has a great fear of the unknown and was a little apprehensive of this new experience. Now that he has accomplished this, he loves it more than going on road trips. Yvie, on the other hand had no problem and enjoyed the experience.  It was great to see my parents on this momentous occasion and I am blessed that we were there to celebrate.  We had some great Mexican (expensive) food and heard Mariachi music and spent time with the family.  The more time that goes on, the more I realize how much older we are getting and how much little time is left with my parents and everyday is a gift with them.

Move to Denver

To pick up where I left off,  we made the move to Denver in the middle of winter, right before Christmas.
I told Dave, after this move,  I was never moving again.  It sucked.  I hated it!!! We had to rent 2 trucks because we had too much stuff!!! We had to unload and drive back and then reload and Dave was off in the middle of a snow storm with Dodge and Luna in the back of the moving truck . I don't know how he did it, but he did.  The kids and I stayed one more week in Albuquerque,  and then I moved them to Aurora in the middle of a snow/ ice storm.  That was the worst. Drove 20-40 mph all the way to Colorado due to the slippery road conditions and the weather.  So many cars spun out,  I was scared.  I had my little ones with me and I was very concerned.  I did make it after 8 hours plus driving.  I was exhausted and I made myself sick, which sucked since it was 2 days before Christmas. Christmas did come and we got ourselves a small tree since it was Christmas Eve and the plus was we were all together and Santa came despite DJ being concerned that he wouldn't.

The last of Albuquerque

Where to begin???  If I think life was hectic before, then life was just preparing me for even more!  Since last I wrote, so many things have happened. I don't even know where to start.  To pick up where I last left off, DJ made his First Holy Reconciliation and then his First Holy Communion at Our Lady of the Sandias at Kirtland AFB.  Both my brothers and sister were able to make it for this special occasion.  My heart was very happy!
GETTING READY FOR CONFESSION

I was able to take DJ to his 1st minor league baseball game to see the Albuquerque Isotopes. It was a date for just me and him.  We got really great tickets from my friend Colin Shaw.  DJ was able to get a game ball from one of the players after numerous times of trying to plead for one.  Many people in the stands helped him to get one by yelling to the players that this was first game  After much cajoling, they finally threw one to him!

In May, we did the annual cub scout 'crossover' camping trip at Villa Nueva state park, which landed on DJ's 8th birthday.  We all had a great time.  It did rain a bit and was a little cold, but the memories will last a lifetime. My little man is losing teeth and growing up and is so sweet.  I want to capture these memories.  It's killing me that he is almost halfway to getting his license, maybe. Boy, do I feel old.

Yvie is a bike rider!!!  She has mastered the bike.  Not afraid at all. Mimics her brother so much. I am always so proud of them both.

In June,  my parents came for a short visit.  Just a few pictures to commemorate their visit.

In July we went off our normal route and Dave decided to plan our Summer vacation.  We started out by going to Denver for the 4th of July to visit our friends Dean and Liz.  After that we went to Wyoming and went to Devils Tower.  And just because we could, we went all the way to Montana just to say we could! After that we went to South Dakota to go see Mount Rushmore.  I never thought I would see that.  It was a very cool experience. On the way back we went through Nebraska.  Another state I never thought I would visit either.  We all had a great time.

In August, Yvie started Kindergarten and DJ started 3rd grade.  No more daycare!!!  Woohoo!  It was a bittersweet experience.  My last baby is growing up.  I cried so much. Yvie was so happy to start school.  She was getting bored at the PreK (daycare) she was at.  DJ on the other hand was somewhat excited about starting 3rd grade.  Just another year for him.  But he took the responsibility of being the big brother and showed Yvie around and making sure she was ok.

In September, we did the annual New Mexico State Fair. This was to be our last one.  Dave had just found out prior to this that he got a job in Denver and would soon be starting in October.  The kids blissfully enjoyed the fair not knowing that this was to be their last time.  As usual we did all the fair things we have been doing since DJ was a baby.

In October, Dave left for Denver.  We were very sad.  My other half was gone.  I had to be strong not only for myself, but for the kids.  DJ took it the hardest. Not at first, because Dave has been gone before, but it did eventually affect him. He was having a very hard time dealing with it and I was doing my best to keep both of them occupied.  Dave did come home every other weekend. He came home for the Balloon Fiesta, another one of our annual rituals.

After that, he came home for Yvie's 6th birthday.  Being a mom is very hard.  I was very emotional again. Every milestone/ step my child takes is another step towards not being my baby anymore.

Before Dave left, we did go to a different pumpkin patch-Galloping Grace. Later we carved pumpkins and then Dave had to go.  Halloween came soon after.  Dave was not there for this one. It was on a Monday, but I kept the momentum going.  We were all a family of pirates, went trick or treating, gave out candy, and relaxed.

Last, but not least, another of our annual traditions was to  get Santa pictures taken with the same Santa for the past 9 years.  We all knew this was the last one.  Our house was almost all packed and ready for Dave to come back to get us ready for the big and last move for us all.
